What is the Enterprise Channel System?

The Enterprise Channel System is a masonry restraint system for cavity walls. A stainless steel 25/14 channel is fixed back to the structural substrate and channel ties twist and lock into the channel at any point along its length. Because tie position is set by the channel rather than by the frame, ties can be aligned with the masonry bed joints, which keeps coursing accurate and takes the difficulty out of setting out on frame projects.

It is used where the outer masonry leaf cannot be tied directly back to the structure, including light gauge steel, concrete frame and timber frame construction, and where vertical adjustment of the ties is needed to match brick coursing.

The system is a partnership between Tec Ties Ltd, who design and manufacture it, and Evolution Fasteners, who provide the engineering support, project specific testing and the 60 year system warranty. It is listed and verified on NBS Source under Tec Ties Ltd.

What we stock

  • Enterprise 25/14 channel, 2.7m lengths for cutting on site
  • Enterprise System Channel Ties (ESCHT), 100mm, 125mm, 150mm and 175mm, supplied in boxes of 250
  • Matching fixings and compression sleeves: BMHT12 bi-metal fasteners for light gauge steel, A4HH A4 stainless masonry fixings for concrete and timber, and SSCS compression sleeves

The 25/14 channel has a 25mm x 14mm profile with a 16mm opening, so washers and fixings seat easily. Fixing holes alternate between 9.7mm and 5.75mm diameter: the smaller holes take fixings into steel or timber, and the larger holes take concrete fixings. Holes are closely spaced along the full length, so there is always a fixing position near the end of a cut length.

Matching the tie to the cavity

Tie length is determined by cavity width, and the four lengths we hold cover cavities from 35mm through to 134mm:

  • ESCHT-100 (100mm) suits cavity widths of 35mm to 59mm
  • ESCHT-125 (125mm) suits cavity widths of 60mm to 84mm
  • ESCHT-150 (150mm) suits cavity widths of 85mm to 109mm
  • ESCHT-175 (175mm) suits cavity widths of 110mm to 134mm

The Enterprise range continues in 25mm steps up to ESCHT-375 (375mm) for cavities up to 334mm, and we can supply any length in the range to order. Grade 316 stainless steel is available on request for high corrosion areas.

Tie spacing and fixings

Tie and fixing centres on the Enterprise System are set by the project's wind loading, not assumed. The manufacturer's published guidance, based on 25/14 channel at 600mm horizontal centres, is:

  • Type 1: ties at 300mm vertical centres, fixings at 225mm or 337.5mm, insulation up to 300mm
  • Types 2, 3 and 4: ties at 450mm vertical centres, fixings at 337.5mm or 450mm, insulation up to 300mm

The wider 337.5mm and 450mm spacings may only be used subject to wind load calculations. Evolution's technical team provides a free wind load analysis and a project specific specification covering fixings, ties, compression sleeves and channel, so the system is calculated rather than over specified. Ask us to set that up for your project.

One warning worth repeating: using the wrong hole and fixing screw combination will compromise system performance and invalidate the system warranty.

Testing, warranty and compliance

Every Enterprise channel system order is supplied with a test report from the manufacturer's UKAS accredited laboratory, and the system carries a 60 year warranty. The documentation package is put together to support Building Safety Act golden thread requirements at Gateways 2 and 3 on higher risk residential buildings, along with U-value calculations where they are needed.

Next day delivery on Enterprise channel

Enterprise channel and channel ties are held as stock lines and delivered next day on trade account orders, on our own FORS Gold accredited vehicles, from the Midlands to the South Coast. Enterprise Channel System FAQs

Which channel tie do I need for a 75mm cavity?

A 75mm cavity falls in the 60mm to 84mm range, so ESCHT-125 is the correct tie.

Can the 25/14 channel be cut on site?

Yes. The channel is supplied in 2.7m lengths and the closely spaced punched holes mean a fixing position is always near the end of a cut length.

What fixings hold the channel in place?

BMHT12 bi-metal composite panel fasteners for light gauge steel, and A4HH A4 stainless steel masonry fixings for concrete and timber, matched to the hole diameter being used. SSCS compression sleeves prevent the insulation being crushed. We hold the appropriate fixings and compression sleeves for the Enterprise range.

Do you stock the whole Enterprise tie range?

We hold 100mm through to 175mm, ESCHT-100 to ESCHT-175, as stock lines, and we can get any other length in the Enterprise range.

How long is the warranty on the Enterprise Channel System?

The system carries a 60 year warranty, and every order is supplied with a test report from the manufacturer's UKAS accredited laboratory.

Who makes the Enterprise Channel System?

It is a partnership between Tec Ties Ltd and Evolution Fasteners. Tec Ties designs and manufactures the channel and ties, and Evolution Fasteners provides the technical support, project specific testing and the 60 year system warranty.

Is the Enterprise Channel System on NBS Source?

Yes. The system is listed and verified on NBS Source as specification ready.
